Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Tri Delta is committed to making an impact on individuals and communities, both locally and nationally. Tri Delta members are encouraged to develop their philanthropic spirit through individual community service hours as well as contributing great time and effort to Tri Delta sponsored events. Phi Lambda has developed special connections with Camp Sanguinity and Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. On a national level, Tri Delta enjoys a partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Delta Dunkfest

Every year the Phi Lambda Chapter of Delta Delta Delta hosts a campus-wide three-on-three-basketball tournament called Delta Dunkfest. Our proceeds are donated to Camp Sanguinity, allowing children suffering from cancer to attend camp for a week with their families. Each Tri Delta spends many hours getting donations, speaking to the community, and volunteering for this event. Phi Lambda Tri Deltas are helping children and their families’ one step at a time. Phi Lambda raised over $53,000 in 2011 for children with cancer and blood disorders.

About Camp Sanguinity

DDD presents a check for $60,000 to Cook Children’s Hospital

Each summer, more than 100 children with cancer have the opportunity to attend a summer camp alongside other children facing the same challenges.

Camp counselors provide a safe and therapeutic environment that facilitates making friends and having fun in a summer camp setting. Camp Sanguinity is affiliated with Cook Childrens’ Medical Center.

Nationally, Tri Delta has created philanthropic ties with Childrens’ Cancer Charities, which helped to form Phi Lambda’s relationship with Camp Sanguinity.

Cookies and Castles – A Gingerbread Extravaganza!

The annual Cookies and Castles event is held, in conjunction with the Fort Worth Tri Delta alumni chapter, in early December. This is a wonderful opportunity for collegiate and alumni members to reach out together and help the Fort Worth community. This fundraising event allows friends and families an opportunity to celebrate the holidays by decorating gingerbread houses and gingerbread men for their own families while raising money for a good cause.

In December 2013, Cookies and Castles raised over $60,000 for the Hematology/Oncology unit at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Since 2001, the Fort Worth Delta Delta Delta Alumnae chapter has raised more than $400,000! A plaque hangs outside the Hematology/Oncology Clinic honoring Tri Delta’s contribution to the unit.

Each year because of our long-standing commitment to Cook Childrens’ Medical Center, members are allowed to tour the hospital and its NICU.

“Sincerely Yours” Letter Writing Campaign

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is Tri Delta’s national philanthropy. To support this worthy cause, the members of our chapter send out letters to friends and family seeking donations. Thanks to their generous contributions, we were able to donate $63,440 in 2013 to St. Jude.
